Royals have game suspended by weather
Kansas City had its game Wednesday night at Boston suspended due to rain in the 10th inning with the score tied at 4-4. The game will resume on August 22. Billy Hamilton helped pace the Royals offense as he ended the game 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Nicky Lopez finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Hunter Dozier went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. Jorge Lopez gets the start today for the Royals as he comes in with a 1-7 record, 6.19 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 80 strikeouts over 84 1/3 innings pitched.
Tigers trounced by White Sox
Detroit lost by a count of 8-1 at home versus Chicago Wednesday afternoon to drop to 33-78 overall and 14-39 at home. Travis Demeritte helped lead the Tigers offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Jordy Mercer went 2-for-3, while Niko Goodrum was 1-for-3 plus a walk. Tyler Alexander took the loss as he surrendered five runs (four earned) on nine hits with six strikeouts and one walk over 4 1/3 innings of work. Matthew Boyd draws the start today for the Tigers as he enters with a 6-8 record, 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 187 strikeouts over 138 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 33-77 in their last 110 road games. Kansas City is 1-10 in the last 11 Lopez starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 10-44 in their last 54 games overall. Detroit is 0-6 in the last six Boyd home starts.
Prediction:
The Tigers stink and rarely win, but this might be a great spot to get one. Boyd is having a very good year, might be relaxed more that the trade deadline has passed and is due for a win. With Detroit facing the mediocre Lopez, it should provide the run support Boyd needs to carry the rest of the load. The Tigers bullpen is always an issue, but a couple arms have pitched decent enough lately. I'm taking a shot on lowly Detroit here.
