Braves' Foltynewicz makes quality start vs. Mets
Mike Foltynewicz kept the Mets to two runs over six innings in a win Thursday. Folty scattered five hits and a walk while striking out five in the effort. It was a promising turn for the right-hander, who hadn't allowed fewer than four runs in a start since July 1. With the win, Folty improved to 8-7 with a strong 3.04 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 138/49 K/BB ratio over 118 1/3 innings of work this season. Start him with confidence Wednesday when the Braves visit the Nationals.
Nationals' Milone outduels Syndergaard for first win on 2018
Tommy Milone scattered three hits and one run over seven dominant innings Wednesday in the Nationals’ victory over the Mets. He registered nine strikeouts and didn’t walk anyone. Milone zoomed through seven innings in just 97 pitches including 69 for strikes. The only extra-base hit he allowed came when Jose Reyes blasted a solo homer in the fifth inning. Aside from that, it was smooth sailing for the left-hander, who won for the first time since April 14 of last year. If Milone gets another start (that will depend on the health of Stephen Strasburg), it would likely come during Tuesday’s doubleheader with Atlanta.
