Marlins lose two
Miami has dropped four straight games after losing two games to the Mets on Monday night in New York. Miami is now 42-69 on the season, 20-34 on the road and 54-51 with the under. Jordan Yamamoto gets the start for the Marlins this evening. He is 4-2 on the season with a 3.94 ERA.
The Marlins had trouble bringing in runs on Monday, posting just two on six hits in the opener and four on nine hits in the nightcap. Isan Diaz had a solo home run in the opening game while Curtis Granderson had a pair of RBI in game two. Robert Dugger took the loss in Game 1, allowing six runs over five innings to fall to 0-1 on the year. Sandy Alcantara got the start in Game 2 and he allowed two runs over five innings while Jeff Brigham took the loss in relief, allowing three runs over 1.2 innings of work.
Mets stay hot
The Mets have won 11 of their last 12 games after scoring a pair of victories over Miami on Monday night. New York is 57-56 on the year, 30-20 at home and 57-45 with the over. The Mets have Zack Wheeler getting the start tonight. He is 8-6 on the season with a 4.45 ERA.
Jacob deGrom struck out eight over seven innings and allowed just two runs in the opener to get the win and move to 7-7 on the year. He also drove in two runs at the plate while Amed Rosario and Jeff McNeil each had two hits and a RBI. In Game 2, a three-home run seventh led the Mets to the win. Pete Alonso, J.D. Davis and Michael Conforto each had solo shots. Conforto finished the game with three RBI. Walker Lockett got the start and threw 4.2 innings while allowing four runs. Jeurys Familia got the win in relief to move to 3-1 while Seth Lugo earned his second save of the year by pitching a perfect eighth and ninth.
MLB Betting Trends
Miami
The Marlins 9-22 in their last 31 Tuesday games and 25-60 in their last 85 road games.
New York
The Mets have won six straight Game 3’s of a series and five straight home games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Mets have won four straight meetings with the Marlins and they have a big pep in their step right now. Wheeler is trending up like the team, as he pitched seven scoreless in his last start. He threw seven strong against Miami earlier this year as well. Yamamoto is trending the other way, allowing 15 runs over his last 14 innings. Miami’s pitching is usually its strength, so if that fails them, the Marlins have little chance to stop this New York momentum.
MLB Prediction: New York Mets -225
