Angels back to .500

The Angels have lost three straight and seven of their last nine after dropping the first two games to the Indians this weekend. Los Angeles is 56-56 overall, 27-28 on the road and 53-52 with the under. Jaime Barria is getting the start for the Angels this evening. He is 4-4 on the season with a 6.28 ERA.

The Angels got out to a slow start on Saturday and couldn’t recover late. Despite out-hitting Cleveland 9-7, they still lost 7-2. Felix Pena went just 1.2 innings to start and then Trevor Cahill came in and gave up three runs over 2.2 innings to take the loss. Cahill is 3-7 on the year. At the plate, Justin Upton drove in both Los Angeles runs while Shohei Ohtani had the lone extra-base hit.

Indians take first two

Cleveland has won the first two games in this series by a combined score of 14-5. The Indians are 65-45 on the season, 35-23 at home and 59-48 with the under. The Tribe have Shane Bieber getting the start this afternoon. He is 10-4 on the year with a 3.40 ERA.

The Indians were efficient on Saturday, driving in seven runs on seven hits while only stranding three baserunners. The team had three home runs in the victory. Carlos Santana hit his 24th while Jason Kipnis had his 10th and Francisco Lindor hit his 19th. Lindor finished with three RBI while Kipnis drove in two. Adam Plutko got the win to improve to 4-2 on the year. He threw 5.1 innings and allowed one run on five hits.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Angels are 2-6 in their last eight Game 3’s of a series and 1-8 in their last nine against AL Central opponents.

Cleveland

The Indians are 10-3 in their last 13 home games and 15-5 in their last 20 following a win.

Prediction:

The Angels are really struggling to stay afloat right now. They have looked complacent at the plate and their pitching hasn’t been up to par. Barria isn’t bad, but he struggled to get very deep into games. On the road he has a 10.62 ERA over five appearances. Bieber has been solid this year for Cleveland and he has given up just two runs over his last 16 innings. Day games have been a strong point for him. He is 4-1 with a 2.67 ERA over eight starts. I think he has another solid showing today and leads the Tribe to a sweep.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -215
