Tigers edged again

Detroit has lost to the Rangers in both games of this series, 5-4. Saturday’s game went to 10 innings. Detroit is 32-74 on the season, 19-38 on the road and 52-46 with the under. The Tigers have Jordan Zimmerman on the mound today. He is 1-8 on the season with a 7.23 ERA.

Detroit blew a pair of leads on Saturday and ultimately lost in extra innings. Matt Boyd had another solid start, allowing just two runs over 5.2 innings. Buck Farmer blew the lead for the Tigers while Nick Ramirez took the loss in the 10th to fall to 5-4 on the year. At the plate Miguel Cabrera had a two-run home run to lead the Tigers. Harold Castro also drove in a pair of runs.

Rangers win third straight

The Rangers have won three straight games after Saturday’s 5-4 win over the Tigers. Texas is now 56-54 on the season, 34-22 at home and 55-52 with the under. The Rangers have Pedro Payano taking the mound today. He is 1-0 on the season with a 3.18 ERA.

Rougned Odor hit his 20th home run of the season in walk-off fashion to give the Rangers the win in the 10th on Saturday. Odor and Elvis Andrus each finished the game with two hits. Adrian Sampson got the start and allowed four runs over 4.2 innings, not taking a decision. The Texas bullpen gave up just one hit over 5.1 innings. Jose Leclerc got the win by pitching a perfect 10th. He is 2-3 on the year.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers are just 32-73 in their last 105 road games and 2-8 in their last 10 Sunday games.

Texas

The Rangers are 8-2 in their last 10 against AL Central opponents, but just 1-4 in their last five Sunday games.

Prediction:

The Rangers have won all five meetings with the Tigers this season and I would expect that to continue today. Zimmerman has been a mess on the mound all season and is facing a potent Texas lineup. Payano has thrown just 11.1 innings this year, but they have been promising. He has yet to pitch in his home park, so that should be a nice boost for him today against the struggling Tigers.

MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers -180
