Peralta stays red-hot

D-backs outfielder David Peralta went 4-for-5 in the series opener, then followed it up last night as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run plus a double and a walk while scoring two runs. Jon Jay went 2-for-5, while Paul Goldschmidt ended the night 1-for-4 with a solo homer plus a walk. A.J. Pollock went 1-for-3 with a walk. Eduardo Escobar was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. David Descalso finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Patrick Corbin earned the win as he allowed three earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Brad Boxberger gave up two hits and struck out one in an inning of work to earn his 26th save.

Posey leaves game with injury

Giants catcher Buster Posey left Friday's game with a head injury and his status for today's game is in doubt. Prior to leaving the contest, he went 2-for-2 and scored a run. Evan Longoria was 2-for-4 with a run. Austin Slater went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Chris Stratton suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and four walks over three innings.

Andrew Suarez (4-6, 4.11 ERA) draws the start today for San Francisco, while Arizona turns to Clay Buchholz (4-1, 2.65).

MLB Betting Trends

San Francisco

The under is 13-4-1 in the last 18 Giants road games. The over is 7-3 in the last 10 San Francisco games following a loss.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 6-13 in their last 19 home games. The over is 7-1 in the last eight Arizona games overall.

Prediction:

Buchholz has pitched well for the D-backs this season and will benefit if Posey misses today's game. Arizona's offense is in pretty good shape since the arrival of Escobar in the trade with Minnesota and it should be able to touch up Suarez tonight. I tried to find reasons why the Giants would be a good bet here and I couldn't find enough. San Francisco already struggles enough to score without Posey being absent. If he plays today, that changes things but it seems as though he'll sit this one out. Take Arizona.
