Padres' Lockett to make spot start vs. Cubs
Walker Lockett will start for the Padres on Saturday against the Cubs. Lockett has been knocked around for six runs over 5 2/3 innings in the majors this season. He could have a shot at additional starts if he pitches well, but he can't be trusted at Wrigley.
Cubs' Hendricks strikes out eight in dominant win vs. Cardinals
Kyle Hendricks was dominant in Sunday's victory over the Cardinals, racking up eight strikeouts over seven innings of two-run ball. The right-hander scattered four hits and didn't walk a batter in the game. All of the damage against him came on a two-run blast by Marcell Ozuna in the first inning. After that, he was in complete command, retiring the final 17 hitters that he faced in order. With the win, the 28-year-old hurler improves to 7-9 to go along with a 3.97 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He'll look to carry over this fine effort when he squares off against the Padres at home on Saturday.
