Vogelbach provides only offense in loss
Seattle trailed 9-0 through five innings and eventually fell by a count of 10-2 Friday night at Houston. Daniel Vogelbach was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Mariners offense. Kyle Seager went 1-for-3 with two walks, while Tom Murphy ended the game 1-for-4. Yusei Kikuchi took the loss as he allowed six earned runs on nine hits with one strikeout and no walks over four innings. Marco Gonzales draws the start tonight for Seatle as he enters with a 12-8 record, 4.21 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 99 strikeouts over 134 2/3 innings pitched.
Astros hit six homers
Houston rolled to a 10-2 home win Friday night over Seattle to improve to 71-40 overall and 39-15 at home. Martin Maldonado helped lead the Astros as he finished 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two runs scored. Jake Marisnick was 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Jose Altuve ended the game 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Carlos Correa finished 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk and two RBIs. Aledmys Diaz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Yordan Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs. George Springer finished 4-for-5 with a triple and a run scored. Wade Miley picked up the win on the mound as he allowed two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and five walks over six innings pitched. MLB Betting Trends
The Mariners are 3-13 in their last 16 Saturday games. Seattle is 7-2 in the last nine Gonzales starts.
The Astros are 39-12 in their last 51 games versus the AL West. Houston is 42-20 in the last 62 meetings.
Sanchez was awful this season for Toronto, but the Astros have a knack for turning pitchers around. Expect Sanchez to be an asset before long, perhaps as early as tonight. With the Astros hitting lefties hard, I think they get to Gonzales early and as long as Sanchez pitches into the sixth inning before giving way to the bullpen, the hosts should be in good shape.
