Tigers sweep Reds
The Tigers finally won back-to-back games for the first time in weeks, sweeping the Cincinnati Reds in a brief 2-game series. Detroit is now 47-62 overall and 18-35 on the road. The Tigers are putting up 3.89 runs per game this year while allowing 4.60 per contest.
Blaine Hardy gets the start for the Tigers tonight. He has started 10 games this year and has appeared in 10 others. Hardy has a 4-3 record with a 3.61 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Hardy has pitched 62.1 innings this year and has 45 strikeouts with 16 walks.
Athletics own Tigers
The Athletics have won nine straight meetings with the Tigers, including four games in Detroit back in June. Oakland comes into the weekend after sweeping the Blue Jays at home. The A’s are now 64-46 overall and 29-22 at home. Oakland is putting up 4.81 runs per game this season while allowing 4.35 per contest.
Brett Anderson makes the start for Oakland this evening. He is making his ninth start of the year tonight and comes in with a 2-3 record, a 5.55 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP. Anderson has pitched a total of 35.2 innings and has 19 strikeouts with 10 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are just 7-19 in their last 26 Friday games and 1-6 in their last seven games following a day off.
Oakland
The Athletics have won five straight at home and five of their last six against a left-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Athletics should be able to handle their business at home tonight. They are the better team and still have a lot to play for while the Tigers are out of the race and still without their best hitter in Miguel Cabrera. Anderson should see his numbers improve tonight while I think the Detroit bullpen will keep Hardy from being able to get a win.
The Pick: Oakland Athletics -180
