Brewers fall in Oakland

The Brewers have lost three of their last four games after dropping two of three to Oakland this week. The Brewers are 57-53 on the season, 24-29 on the road and 57-49 with the under. Milwaukee has Zach Davies getting the start today. He is 8-4 on the season with a 3.56 ERA.

The Brewers are hovering around the middle of the ground in hitting and pitching. Milwaukee has a 4.64 team ERA with a 1.35 team WHIP. At the plate, Milwaukee is averaging 4.83 runs per game while batting .247. Christian Yelich is leading the team with 23 doubles, 36 home runs, 81 RBI and 23 stolen bases. Mike Moustakas is adding 23 doubles, 26 home runs and 61 RBI.

Cubs struggle on the road

The Cubs wrapped up a nine-game road trip where they went 3-6, including a pair of losses to the Cardinals this week. Chicago is 57-51 on the season, 36-18 at home and 56-49 with the under. Jose Quintana gets the start for the Cubs this afternoon. He is 8-7 on the season with a 4.47 ERA.

Chicago ranks fifth in the league in ERA at 4.03 to go along with a 1.30 team WHIP. At the plate, the Cubs are averaging 4.94 runs per game while hitting .250 as a team. Anthony Rizzo is leading the team with 24 doubles, 21 home runs and 71 RBI while Javier Baez has 28 doubles, 25 homers and 69 RBI. The team also just brought in Nicholas Castellanos from the Detroit Tigers to add to the lineup.

MLB Betting Trends

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 3-8 in their last 11 Friday games, but 5-2 in Davies’ last seven starts against NL Central opponents.

Chicago

The Cubs are 48-21 in their last 69 home games against a right-handed starter, but just 1-4 in their last five series openers.

Prediction:

Davis has solid numbers for the year, but is struggling as of late. He has given up 14 runs over his last nine innings, including seven to the Cubs last weekend. Quintana has been a little more steady. While giving up multiple runs, he has been able to log wins. However, he has an 8.79 ERA over three starts against the Cubs. Despite that, I think Chicago gets it done this year. The Cubs have been strong at home all year and returning home from a 9-game road trip should give them a boost. Davies struggled with this lineup last weekend and it is even stronger now with Castellanos on board.

MLB Prediction: Chicago Cubs -145
