According to oddsmakers, the Rangers are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -240 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +200 to win, while the over/under total for the contest is set at 10 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 79 percent going on Texas at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Tigers manage series win

In a pretty big surprise, the Tigers picked up a series win over the Angels this week despite trading away top talents Shane Greene and Nicholas Castellanos. Detroit is 32-72 on the season, 19-36 on the road and 51-46 with the under. The Tigers have Tyler Alexander getting the start tonight. He is 0-1 on the season with a 3.86 ERA.

Detroit has the league’s worst lineup, averaging just 3.58 runs per game while batting .231. That won’t be helped by losing Castellanos. He led the team with 37 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBI. On the mound, the Tigers have a 5.09 team ERA with a 1.43 team WHIP. Brandon Dixon is the current hitting leader with 14 home runs and 43 RBI while Miguel Cabrera added 15 doubles, six home runs and 40 RBI.

Rangers end losing streak

The Rangers put an end to a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 9-7 win over the Mariners. Texas is now 54-54 on the season, 32-22 at home and 54-52 with the under. The Rangers have Lance Lynn getting the start today. He is 13-6 on the season with a 3.83 ERA.

Texas hits the ball pretty well, putting up 5.31 runs per game while batting .253 as a squad. The pitching staff has a 5.01 team ERA with a 1.44 team WHIP. Rougned Odor is leading the team with 20 doubles, 18 home runs and 62 RBI. Elvis Andrus is adding 20 doubles, eight home runs, 51 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers have lost five straight following a day off and are just 14-52 in their last 66 overall.

Texas

The Rangers are 1-5 in their last six home games and 4-12 in their last 16 games overall.

Prediction:

The Tigers don’t have much to offer right now. While Alexander hasn’t been too bad this season, he has just three starts. He isn’t likely to do very well against this Texas lineup, as his first three starts have been against weak lineups like the White Sox, Blue Jays and Mariners. Lynn has been solid for most of the season, racking up a lot of strikeouts as of late with minimal walks. He faces the league’s worst lineup that is even weaker now, so I would expect another strong start. I like the Rangers big tonight.

MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers -1.5 (-135)
