Brewers bounce back
After losing the series opener on Tuesday, 3-2, Milwaukee was able to bounce back on Wednesday night with a 4-2 victory. The Brewers are 57-52 on the season, 24-28 on the road and 56-49 with the under. Milwaukee has Chase Anderson on the mound today. He is 5-2 on the year with a 3.89 ERA.
The Brewers got all they could ask for out of their bullpen on Wednesday, as five pitchers combined to give up just two runs on seven hits. Jordan Lyles threw five innings and allowed one run to improve to 6-7 on the year. Josh Hader recorded his 24th save of the year with a scoreless ninth. Lorenzo Cain, Christian Yelich and Mike Moustakas each drove in a run for Milwaukee in the win. Cain drove his in on a solo home run.
A’s end win streak
Oakland was riding a three-game win streak coming into Wednesday, but couldn’t extend it to four games. The Athletics are now 61-48 on the season, 34-23 at home and 58-51 with the under. Oakland has Daniel Mengden getting the start this afternoon. He is 5-2 on the year with a 4.85 ERA.
Brett Anderson pitched pretty well on Wednesday, allowing three runs over seven innings, but still took the loss to drop to 9-7 on the year. Jurickson Profar had two hits and a RBI to lead Oakland at the plate while Matt Chapman drove in the other run for the Athletics.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 13-5 in their last 18 Game 3’s of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 against a winning team.
Oakland
The Athletics are 8-1 in their last nine Game 3’s of a series and 12-3 in their last 15 games following a loss.
Prediction:
Mengden has been on a downward trend since the end of May. His ERA has gone from 3.05 to 4.85. He has given up four runs in each of his last two starts and at least three in five of his last seven outings. Anderson has been more steady. He gives up two runs or less most of the time and has done so in seven straight starts. Anderson has been particularly strong in day games, posting a 2.93 ERA over six appearances. I think the Milwaukee pitching has held up just fine in Oakland and will today. If the bats can do their part, the Brewers will win again. I think they can against a struggling Mengden.
MLB Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers -110
