Astros take opener

Houston won the series opener on Tuesday night with a 2-0 victory over the Tribe. The Astros are 69-39 overall, 31-24 on the road and 58-45 with the under. Jose Urquidy gets the start for Houston tonight. He is 1-0 on the season with 4.26 ERA.

Justin Verlander threw a gem on Tuesday night, striking out 13 over seven innings while giving up just two hits. He is now 14-4 on the year with a 2.73 ERA. Roberto Osuna got his 24th save of the year with a perfect ninth. At the plate, Jose Altuve had three hits and scored a run while Robinson Chrinos had two hits, with a solo home run.

Indians lose back-to-back

Cleveland had its four-game win streak come to an end on Sunday and the Tribe have now lost two straight after the loss to Houston last night. The Indians are 62-44 overall, 32-22 at home and 57-46 with the under. The Tribe have Zach Plesac on the mound today. He is 5-3 on the season with a 3.10 ERA.

Shane Bieber pitched well on Tuesday, but not as well as Verlander. He gave up just two runs over seven innings and had eight strikeouts. He took the loss to fall to 10-4 on the season. At the plate, Cleveland was held to just two singles. They came from Roberto Perez and Greg Allen.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 5-1 in their last six road games and 10-2 in their last 12 games against a winning team.

Cleveland

The Indians are 12-3 in their last 15 games following a loss and 7-2 in their last nine home games.

Prediction:

Urquidy has been pitching very well over his last two starts, giving up just two runs over 13 innings. Plesac has also been locked in, allowing just two earned runs over his last 13 innings. Plesac has been steady at home, posting a 2.86 ERA over five starts. Give the Cleveland struggles at the plate last night, I would expect a stronger showing today. Houston’s bullpen will get tested more today and I think the Astros will continue to struggle with the Cleveland pitching.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians +125
