Williams throws six shutout innings

Pirates starting pitcher Trevor Williams outdueled Mets All-Star Jacob deGrom Saturday as he threw six shutout innings, He gave up five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Adam Frazier went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI at the leadoff spot. Gregory Polanco finished 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. Colin Moran went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jordan Luplow was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

deGrom again has no luck

It was another case of deGrom getting no run support yesterday as he allowed three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeout and no walks over seven innings. He dropped to 5-6 on the season despite a sizzling 1.82 ERA. Even offensively, deGrom had the best night on the Mets as he was 2-for-3 with a double. Amed Rosario walked and stole a base in four plate appearances.

Zack Wheeler (4-6, 4.33 ERA) takes the hill for New York today, while Pittsburgh is going with Joe Musgrove (4-4, 3.90).
