Twins slip up

Minnesota won the first two games in this series, but suffered a 5-1 loss to the White Sox on Saturday. The Twins are now 63-41 on the season, 32-20 on the road and 51-47 with the over. Kyle Gibson makes the start this afternoon. He is 9-4 on the year with a 4.24 ERA.

The White Sox struggled with their hitting in the first two games of the season, but the Twins struggled on Saturday. Minnesota posted just three hits in the loss. Byron Buxton had two hits and scored the lone run. He was brought in thanks to a Chicago error. Martin Perez took the loss to fall to 8-4 on the season. He gave up three runs over six innings on seven hits.

White Sox end skid

Chicago was on a four-game losing streak, but put it to an end on Saturday night in the win over the Twins. Chicago is 46-56 overall, 27-24 at home and 51-48 with the under. Dylan Covey makes the start for the White Sox this afternoon. He is 1-6 on the year with a 6.04 ERA.

Ivan Nova posted his second straight strong start, throwing six innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits. Nova is now 6-9 on the year. At the plate, Yoan Moncada hit his 20th home run. He finished the game with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored while Adam Engel also drove in a pair of runs.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are just 1-5 in their last six Sunday games and 9-3 in Gibson’s last 12 road starts.

Chicago

The White Sox are just 5-21 in Covey’s last 26 starts and 1-7 in their last eight division games.

Prediction:

Covey has struggled most of the year, blowing up in a fair number of games. He has a 6.00 ERA against the Twins this season. Gibson hasn’t been lighting the world on fire, but he’s a little more predictable and safe than Covey. He has a 1.29 ERA against the Sox this year and Minnesota is the better lineup on most days. As long as the Twins bats don’t go silent again, they should be just fine.

MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -215
