Braves in a funk

Atlanta is in a bit of a funk right now, having lost six of their last eight games after a pair of losses at home to the Kansas City Royals. The Braves are 60-43 overall, 30-20 on the road and 50-48 with the over. Mike Soroka is getting the start tonight. He is 10-2 on the year with a 2.46 ERA.

The Braves are putting up 5.22 runs per game at the plate this year while hitting .261 as a squad. On the mound, Atlanta has a 4.24 team ERA with a 1.38 team WHIP. Freddie Freeman is leading the team this season with 26 doubles, 25 home runs and 79 RBI. Ronald Acuna Jr. is adding 13 doubles, 24 home runs, 58 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

Phillies heating up

Philadelphia is riding a three-game win streak and the Phillies have won five of their last six after a pair of wins over the Detroit Tigers this week. Philly is 54-48 on the season, 30-21 at home and 53-46 with the under. Jake Arrieta is getting the start for the Phillies tonight. He is 8-7 on the season with a 4.40 ERA.

The Phillies are putting up 4.75 runs per game at the plate this year while hitting .243 as a team. On the mound, Philadelphia has a 4.58 team ERA with a 1.39 team WHIP. Bryce Harper is leading the team with 30 doubles, 17 home runs and 70 RBI. Rhys Hoskins is adding 22 doubles, 21 home runs and 64 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Atlanta

The Braves have won 10 of their last 14 games following a loss and 22-10 in their last 32 road games.

Philadelphia

The Phillies are 11-5 in their last 16 games following an off day and 5-2 in their last seven home games against a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

Arrieta has allowed just one run in his last two starts to get himself back on track. He gave up one run in six innings to the Braves earlier this season. Soroka has been hit and miss this year. He has alternated good starts with bad as of late, but the Braves have also been a little inconsistent. In his one start against the Phillies, he gave up four runs in just 4.2 innings of work. Given the recent trends, I will take my chances on the Phillies as a home underdog. They are playing well and have proven they can get to Sokora.

MLB Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies +115
