Rangers lose eighth straight
Texas now finds itself on an eight-game losing streak after the 7-3 loss to Seattle on Monday night. The Rangers are 50-50 on the season, 19-29 on the road and 50-48 with the under. Texas has Brett Martin getting the start this evening. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.66 ERA.
The Rangers stranded eight runners in Monday’s loss, as they struggled to find that breakthrough hit. Rougned Odor had three hits with a home run in the loss, also scoring twice. Elvis Andrus also had a pair of hits and scored a run. Adrian Sampson took the loss on the mound as he gave up six runs over 5.1 innings, allowing eight hits with four strikeouts.
Seattle takes opener
Seattle had lost eight of its last nine games coming into Monday, but grabbed a 7-3 win in the series opener. The Mariners are 41-62 on the season, 21-31 at home and 65-34 with the over. Seattle has Tommy Milone taking the mound tonight. He is 1-4 on the season with a 3.95 ERA.
Marco Gonzales had a strong start for Seattle on Monday, throwing seven innings while giving up just two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. He is 11-8 on the year. Roenis Elias came in to earn his 12th save by recording the final out. Austin Nola had two hits, including a home run, while driving in three and scoring twice to lead the Mariners at the plate. Kyle Seager also homered in the win while Mallex Smith drove in a pair of runs.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers have lost six straight division games and five of their last six Game 2’s in a series.
Seattle
The Mariners are just 7-19 in their last 26 games following a win and 10-28 in their last 38 division games.
Prediction:
The Rangers are going with a relief starter tonight to try and snap out of their funk. Martin is getting the first start of his career. His 30 appearances this year haven’t gone terribly well, though he hasn’t allowed a run over his last 4.2 innings. Milone has been a bit hot-and-cold as of late, mixing really bad outings with shutout performances. In two starts against Texas, he has a 3.38 ERA, which should be able to get the job done. The Rangers bats have gone cold and their pitching is already pretty poor. I don’t expect good things to come from Martin on the mound.
MLB Prediction: Seattle Mariners -130
