Oakland beat up in opener

Oakland has lost back-to-back games following an 11-1 loss on the road against the Astros on Monday night. Oakland is now 57-44 on the season, 26-24 on the road and 53-48 with the under. The A’s have Mike Fiers on the mound tonight. He is 9-3 on the season with a 3.64 ERA.

The Athletics had just two hits in Monday’s loss and their pitching was beat up quickly, as they gave up the 11 runs over the first three innings. Mark Canha drove in the lone run on a double while Matt Chapman had the other hit. Homer Bailey took the loss on the mound to fall to 8-7 on the season. He gave up nine runs over two innings.

Astros add to win streak

Houston increased its win streak to six games with the dominant win on Monday night. The Astros are now 65-37 overall, 37-14 at home and 53-44 with the under. Houston has Wade Miley getting the start this evening. He is 8-4 on the season with a 3.25 ERA.

Gerrit Cole threw a gem on Monday night, improving to 11-5 on the season by throwing seven innings and allowing two hits with 11 strikeouts. MLB Betting Trends

Oakland

The Athletics are 10-1 in their last 11 games following a loss and 6-0 in their last six Tuesday games.

Houston

The Astros have won six straight against winning teams and five straight against right-handed starters.

Prediction:

The Astros look really strong right now and they have another greater starter on the mound tonight. Wade Miley is 4-1 at home over eight starts with a 1.86 ERA. In two starts against Oakland, he has a 1.54 ERA. Fiers has been one of Oakland’s better starters, but he has a 4.94 ERA on the road and a lofty 8.64 ERA in two starts against Houston. The Astros have too powerful of a lineup and their arms are too strong for Oakland to handle on the road.

MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -155
