Indians take opener

Cleveland has won eight of its last nine games thanks to a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays in the series opener on Monday. The Indians are 58-41 overall, 26-20 on the road and 53-43 with the under. Trevor Bauer is getting the start tonight. He is 9-7 on the season with a 3.67 ERA.

Mike Clevinger kept his momentum going on Monday night, throwing seven strong innings to get his fourth win of the year. Clevinger struck out seven while giving up three runs on five hits. At the plate, Oscar Mercado had a home run and a triple while driving in two runs. Francisco Lindor also drove in a pair of runs while Jason Kipnis had two hits and scored twice.

Jays fall at home again

Toronto dropped the series opener on Monday after returning home from a long road trip. The Blue Jays are now 38-64 on the season, 18-31 at home and 50-49 with the over. Toronto has Aaron Sanchez getting the start this evening. He is 3-14 on the season with a 6.26 ERA.

Ryan Borucki made his 2019 debut on Monday and took the loss, giving up four runs over 4.2 innings. Just two of the runs were earned, but he walked four and allowed seven hits. Justin Smoak hit his 16th home run of the season to lead the Jays while Billy McKinney had a two-run home run and Vlad Guerrero Jr. continued his recent hot streak with a pair of hits.

MLB Betting Trends

Cleveland

The Indians have won seven straight road games and 16 of their last 21 Tuesday games.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are 8-20 in their last 28 home games against a right-handed starter and 1-4 in their last five home games.

Prediction:

The Indians have really gotten themselves on a roll right now and I don’t see the momentum train derailing any time soon. Bauer has been steady on the mound and Cleveland has won seven of his last eight starts. While the Jays have a few power bats, they also have a lot of weak points in the lineup. Sanchez has given up at least four runs in eight of his last nine starts and he has lost 10 straight starts and 13 of his last 15 appearances. It’s hard to see the Jays rebounding with him on the mound today.

MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -180
