Rangers drop sixth straight
Texas had its struggles continue Saturday night in a 6-1 loss at Houston to drop to 50-48 overall and 19-27 on the road. Shin-Soo Choo led the Rangers offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Hunter Pence had the only other hit for the Astros as he went 1-for-3. Ariel Jurado took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Lance Lynn draws the start today for Texas as he enters with a 12-5 record, 3.87 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 140 strikeouts over 128 ininings.
Urquidy brilliant in win
Houston rolled to a 6-1 victory Saturday night at home over Texas to improve to 63-37 overall and 35-14 at home. Jose Urquidy earned the win as he gave up one earned run on two hits with nine strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Yuli Gurriel helped lead the Astros offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Tony Kemp went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Myles Straw was 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Rogelio Armenteros will start today for Houston as he comes in with a 0-0 record, 2.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with nine strikeouts over nine innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 1-6 in their last seven road games. Texas is 5-1 in the last six Lynn starts.
Houston
The Astros are 4-0 in their last four Sunday games. Houston is 48-20 in its last 68 home games.
Prediction:
Houston dominated yesterday, but should have a much tougher time against Lynn as he's had a very nice season for the Rangers with a high strikeout rate. With the Astros sending a rookie to the mound, I like the Rangers' chances at ending their skid. Look for Lynn to put his team on his back this season as he's done so many times this season.
