Angels stop brief skid

Los Angeles put an end to its 3-game losing streak on Saturday by picking up a 6-2 win over the Mariners on the road. L.A. is 51-49 overall, 24-26 on the road and 47-46 with the under. The Angels have Dillon Peters getting the start today. He is 1-0 on the season with a 4.15 ERA.

The Angels were down 2-0 on Saturday early on, but put up two runs in the fourth and then had a four-run outburst in the ninth to get the win. Mike Trout had a three-run home run in the ninth to cap off the scoring. He now has 31 home runs on the year with 78 RBI. Albert Pujols also had a pair of hits. Griffin Canning got the start and went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Ty Buttrey got the win in relief, striking out the side in the eighth.

Mariners unable to win back-to-back

Seattle earned a nice 10-0 win over the Angels on Friday, but the Mariners couldn’t go back-to-back on Saturday. Seattle is now 40-61 on the season, 20-30 at home and 63-34 with the over. The Mariners have Yusei Kikuchi getting the start this afternoon. He is 4-6 on the season with a 5.01 ERA.

Wade LeBlanc threw five innings on Saturday and gave up two runs on four hits. However, he saw is bullpen give things away. Roenis Elias gave up the four runs in the ninth to take his second loss of the year. Seattle had just five hits in the loss, all singles. Omar Narvaez had three of the five hits and drove in a run while Dee Gordon drove in the other Seattle run.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Angels have won four of their last five after a win, but are just 1-4 in the last five Game 3’s of a series.

Seattle

The Mariners are just 2-5 in their last seven home games and 9-27 in their last 36 division contests.

Prediction:

Dillon Peters is making his first start for the Angels today. He has made just four appearances during the season, the last coming on June 8. He has given up four runs over 8.2 innings of work this year. Kikuchi has given up at least three runs in nine of his last 10 starts. He has struggled a lot with walks this season and has a 10.91 ERA in four starts against the Angels. It’s hard to imagine he’s going to be able to right that ship today.

MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -170
