St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul DeJong went 2-for-4 with a double, homer and four runs driven in on Friday against the Reds. DeJong cut the Reds' lead to 7-5 in the sixth with a two-run double -- one of 10 runs the Cardinals would score that inning -- and he extended the St. Louis lead with a two-run shot off of Robert Stephenson an inning later. In other words, things escalated quickly. DeJong now has 15 homers on the year along with 44 RBI in 96 games, and he's slashing .254/.344/.444. A far cry from the numbers he had earlier in the season, but DeJong is not without talent; it's certainly possible he closes the season hot.
Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Eugenio Suarez was ejected from Friday's game against the Cardinals for arguing balls and strikes. Suarez took exception to a called third strike call against him in the first inning and made sure that the home plate umpire heard about it. Reds' manager David Bell was also given the heave-ho for coming to his player's defense.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals have now won six of their last seven games overall and are 4-1 in their last five games versus the rest of the National League Central.
Cincinnati
The Reds have lost four consecutive games but are 15-7 in Castillo’s last 22 home starts.
Prediction:
The over is a perfect 4-0 in Miles Mikolas’ last four starts versus the Reds and following last night’s barnburner, the over is now 4-1 in the last five meetings at the Great American Ballpark. The over is also 14-6-1 in Mikolas’ last 21 road starts and 3-0-1 in the Reds’ last four home games.
