New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Jacob deGrom gave up one run on six hits over five innings in a win over the Marlins on Sunday. deGrom struck out six batters and also issued three walks for the second consecutive start. It wasn't his most dominant performance, but it was enough to get the job done in this one. The 31-year-old ace right-hander notched only his third win in his last 17 starts, despite allowing three earned runs or fewer in all but three of those outings. He’ll carry a 3.21 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 144/27 K/BB ratio into a tasty matchup against the Giants in San Francisco on Saturday.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Tyler Beede struck out seven batters over 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Brewers on Sunday. Well, this came out of nowhere. Beede gave up three runs on seven hits, including a solo homer by Christian Yelich in the sixth inning, and didn't hand out a free pass in a dominant performance against a loaded Brewers lineup in Miller Park. He also helped his own cause with a pair of hits, including an RBI single at the plate in this one. The 26-year-old righty has shown glimpses of mixed-league upside in recent weeks, but he still needs to cut down on the free passes and keep the ball in the yard moving forward. He’s coughed up nine home runs in 51 1/3 innings at the big-league level this season. He’ll carry a 5.44 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 50/28 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Mets on Friday. He’s worthy of a speculative pickup in deeper formats.
