New York Mets Fantasy Spin

Pete Alonso drilled a tape-measure home run, his first since the All-Star break Wednesday as the Mets routed Minnesota 14-4. Alonso’s eighth-inning moon shot off Matt Magill went so far it should have counted for two hits, traveling a jaw-dropping 474 feet before finding a home in the upper deck of Target Field. The 24-year-old etched his name in the record books Wednesday with his 54th extra-base hit, breaking the Mets’ rookie record shared by Ike Davis and Ty Wigginton. Alonso has slumped since coming back from last week’s All-Star festivities in Cleveland, batting just .105 across 19 second-half at-bats. Wednesday’s power display could be a sign he’s ready to get back on track.

San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin

Donovan Solano went 4-for-5 with a homer and two doubles to lead the Giants past the Rockies 10-8 on Wednesday. Solano, a veteran who never saw the majors in 2017 or 2018, has hit a stunning .337/.368/.469 in his 98 at-bats for the Giants. It's almost certainly a mirage, but he should get more playing time at Joe Panik's expense until he slows down. He was starting at shortstop today to give Brandon Crawford an afternoon off.

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are 5-0 in Noah Syndergaard’s last five starts.

San Francisco

The Giants are 4-0 in Bumgarner’s last four home starts.

Prediction:

The Giants are a perfect 7-0 in Bumgarner’s last seven starts versus the Mets and are 4-0 in his last four outings at home when he faces a team with a losing record. The Giants have also won 13 of their last 16 overall and are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games when facing a right-handed starter. On the other side, the Mets have dropped eight of their last 11 on the road when facing a team with a losing record and are just 4-9 in their last 13 road games when facing a lefty.

The Pick: San Francisco Giants -105
