Dodgers rally, blow lead

After scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning to go alead 8-6, Los Angeles surrendered three runs in the bottom half at Philadelphia and lost 9-8. Matt Beaty helped lead the way as he finished 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit 3-run home run. A.J. Pollock ended the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Joc Pederson was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Max Muncy ended the game 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs. Cody Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Kenley Jansen took the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on four hits over one-third of an inning. Kenta Maeda gets the start tonight as he enters with a 7-6 record, 3.82 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 101 strikeouts over 101 1/3 innings.

Phillies walk it off

A two-run walk-off double by Bryce Harper in the bottom of the ninth inning propelled Philadelphia to a 9-8 victory Tuesday night at home over Los Angeles. Harper finished the game 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, two walks and five RBIs. Scott Kingery ended the game 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Brad Miller was 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Ranger Suarez earned the win in relief as he retired both batters he faced. Nick Pivetta starts tonight for the Phillies as he comes in with a 4-4 record, 5.81 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 54 strikeouts over 66 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 55-26 in their last 81 games overall. Los Angeles is 2-5 in the last seven Maeda starts.

Philadelphia

The Phillies are 4-1 in the last five Pivetta starts. Philadelphia is 1-4 in its last five Wednesday games.

Prediction:

Los Angeles blew it last night, but has a juicy matchup against Pivetta here as it has an array of left-handed bats ready to feast. Maeda has been pretty solid all season when healthy and I like him to tame the Philly bats enough to get the Dodgers the victory here.
