Nats end win streak

Washington had its four-game win streak come to an end on Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Phillies. The Nats have still won eight of their last 10 games. Washington is 49-43 on the season, 23-23 on the road and 43-43 with the over/under total. Austin Voth gets the start for the Nationals tonight. He is 0-0 on the year with a 5.52 ERA.

The Nationals are right in the middle of the majors in hitting and pitching. Washington is putting up 4.90 runs per game on offense while hitting .254 as a team. On the mound, the Nationals have a 4.32 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP. Anthony Rendon has 23 doubles, 20 home runs and 62 RBI to lead the team while Juan Soto has 15 doubles, 16 home runs and 59 RBI.

Orioles struggling again

After a brief three-game winning streak just before the All-Star Break, the Orioles have lost four of their last five games. Baltimore is 28-65 on the season, 12-34 at home and 46-42 with the over. Asher Wojciechowski gets the start for Baltimore today. He is 0-2 on the season with a 6.10 ERA.

The Orioles are a disaster at the plate and on the mound this year. Baltimore ranks last in team ERA at 5.71 and WHIP at 1.47. Offensively, Baltimore is putting up 4.15 runs per game while hitting 2.38 as a team. Renato Nunez is leading the team with 18 doubles, 21 home runs and 51 RBI while Jonathan Villar has 21 doubles, 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 17 stolen bases.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals are 6-1 in their last seven series openers and 5-1 in their last six games following a loss.

Baltimore

The Orioles are 5-22 in their last 27 interleague games against a right-handed starter. Baltimore is also 13-50 in their last 63 series openers.

Prediction:

Voth hasn’t looked good in his three starts, allowing nine runs over 14.2 innings. The Nats have lost all three games he has appeared in. Wojciechowski has only thrown 10.1 innings this season and allowed seven earned runs. His outings have been against pretty weak lineups as well. Washington has the better bats, so I think the Nats will eventually just outscore the Orioles tonight. Look for a lot of pitchers to get used.

MLB Prediction: Washington Nationals -215
