The Rays put up three runs in the top of the ninth to get the 1-run win on Monday night. Travis d’Arnaud had a dominant performance, hitting three home runs while driving in all five runs for the Rays. His three-run shot in the ninth sparked the win. Willy Adames and Kevin Kiermaier each had two hits as well. Blake Snell threw five innings and allowed one run on three hits. Andrew Kittredge got his first win of the year by pitching 1.2 innings of relief.

Yankees struggling at the plate

The Yankees dropped the opener of this series on Monday and have lost four of their last six. In all six games, New York has scored four runs or less. New York is now 59-33 on the season, 33-16 at home and 48-40 with the over. New York has CC Sabathia getting the start today. He is 5-4 on the year with a 4.03 ERA.

Aroldis Chapman blew his fourth save of the season on Monday night, giving up the three-run home run in the ninth to fall to 2-2 on the year. James Paxton threw six innings and gave up just two runs on seven hits in the start. Edwin Encarnacion continued to hit well for his new team, putting up a pair of home runs and three RBI. He has 27 long balls on the year. DJ LeMahieu had another two hits to move his average up to .331.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa

The Rays are 5-1 in their last six road games and 6-1 in their last seven division games.

New York

The Yankees have won six of their last seven Game 2’s of a series and 49 of their last 69 division games.

Prediction:

Sabathia continues to pitch pretty well. He has been getting deeper into games as of late as well, pitching seven innings against the Rays in his last start. Stanek was beat up for four runs by the Yankees the last time he pitched against them and he has a 9.35 ERA against New York this season in seven appearances. However, New York is struggling at the plate right now and Tampa has a lot of solid arms that will replace Stanek. Sabathia is sure to give up a few runs and New York doesn’t have their best arm available out of the bullpen.

MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays +145
