Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the Pirates’ loss to the Cubs on Sunday. Reynolds did all of his damage early on in this one. He singled in the first inning and later put the Pirates on the board with an RBI single to left field against Cubs starter Jose Quintana in the third inning. He also came around to score a run later in the frame on an RBI double by Jung Ho Kang. The unheralded 24-year-old outfielder has done nothing but hit since being promoted in late-April. He owns a phenomenal .336/.411/.522 triple-slash line with 40 runs scored, seven home runs and 34 RBI in 263 plate appearances
St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks. Diamondbacks starter and Goldschmidt's former teammate Zack Greinke caught too much of the plate in the third inning, and Goldy deposited it into the second deck in left field for a two-run shot. The homer was the 17th of the year for the first baseman, and his first in three games since the break. On the year, Goldschmidt is hitting a disappointing .251/.339/.427 with 39 RBI and 52 runs scored, so he's got some work to do in the second half if he's to live up to the expectations of him in his first year in St. Louis.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are just 2-5 in their last seven games overall and are winless in their last five road games.
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five games versus a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Pirates are 4-0 in Joe Musgrove’s last fours tarts and are 4-0 in his last four outings when he faces an opponent with a winning record. On the other side, the Cardinals are just 3-7 in Miles Mikolas’ last 10 starts and are 1-4 in their last five games versus the rest of the National League Central. St. Louis has been one of the most inconsistent teams all season and after winning two of three versus the Diamondbacks over the weekend, the Cards are in a prime position to suffer a letdown tonight.
The Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +120
