Dodgers win in 12 innings
A go-ahead bases-loaded walk drawn by Max Muncy helped lift Los Angeles to a 7-4 victory in 12 innings Sunday night at Boston. Muncy did not have a hit in four at-bats, but proved to be the hero regardless with the RBI walk. A.J. Pollock helped pace the Dodgers offense as he finished 3-for-6 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs. Alex Verdugo was 2-for-5 with a walk and an RBI. David Freese went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Dylan Floro picked up the win in relief as he allowed two hits with one strikeout and two walks over 1 1/3 scoreless frames. Joe Kelly struck out both batters he faced to earn the save. Clayton Kershaw gets the start tonight as he enters with a 7-2 record, 3.09 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 91 strikeouts over 99 innings.
Franco hits walk-off homer
Maikel Franco hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday afternoon as Philadelphia won 4-3 over visiting Washington. Franco finished 1-for-3 with the solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Jean Segura helped lead the offense as he was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI. J.T. Realmuto ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Hector Neris picked up the win in relief as he struck out the side in the ninth inning. Zach Eflin draws the start tonight for the Phillies as he enters with a 7-8 record, 3.78 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 83 strikeouts over 100 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 54-25 in their last 79 games overall. Los Angeles is 84-29 in the last 113 Kershaw starts.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 5-2 in their last seven home games. Philadelphia is 1-4 in the last five Eflin starts.
Prediction:
Eflin has been solid much of the season, but not in two of his last three starts. Overall, he's been much better at home this season and Kershaw has shown actual vulnerability this seaosn. With the Dodgers coming off a game and a series that fatigued their bullpen, I'm willing to bet against the favorites here. The Phillies need to get on a roll over the next month and beating the best team in the NL would be a good start.
