White Sox swept in Oakland

Chicago was flirting with the .500 mark entering the second half of the season, but was swept on the road by Oakland this weekend. The White Sox are 42-47 on the year, 17-27 on the road and 44-43 with the under. Lucas Giolito gets the start for Chicago today. He is 11-3 on the year with a 3.15 ERA.

The White Sox have struggled with hitting and pitching, but still found a way to be competitive. At the plate, Chicago is averaging just 4.30 runs per game while hitting .256 as a team. On the mound, the Sox have a 5.09 team ERA with a 1.46 team WHIP. Jose Abreu is leading the team with 21 doubles, 21 home runs and 66 RBI. Yoan Moncada is adding 18 doubles, 16 home runs and 49 RBI.

Royals top the Tigers

Kansas City hasn’t had much going for it this season, but the Royals are coming off a series win at home over the Detroit Tigers this weekend. KC is now 32-62 on the season, 18-29 at home and 47-42 with the over. The Royals have Jakob Junis getting the start tonight. He is 4-8 on the season with a 5.33 ERA.

The Royals numbers are similar to the White Sox, as they average 4.28 runs per game while hitting .246 as a team. On the mound, KC has a 5.11 team ERA with a 1.47 team WHIP. Jorge Soler is leading the team with 20 doubles, 25 home runs and 64 RBI while Adalberto Mondesi has 17 doubles, 52 RBI and 30 stolen bases.

MLB Betting Trends

Chicago

The White Sox are just 1-7 in their last eight road games, but they have won Giolito’s last five division starts.

Kansas City

The Royals are 6-23 in their last 29 Monday games and 1-5 in Junis’ last six home starts.

Prediction:

Gilito has been a tremendous pitcher this year despite being on a bad team. He has handled everyone outside of the Cubs pretty well this season. In four starts against the Royals, Giolito has a 3-0 record with a 1.80 ERA. Junis is not nearly as successful. He has allowed at least two runs in his last 10 starts and he has a 4.76 ERA against the White Sox this season. I expect Giolito to have another great start while Chicago’s big bats beat up on Junis.

MLB Prediction: Chicago White Sox -120
