A's Manaea pulled in fifth inning of last start
Sean Manaea yielded three runs in four innings Tuesday against the Astros. Manaea gave up single runs in the first, second and fourth innings. For some reason, manager Bob Melvin sent him back out for the fifth, only to pull him after a Jose Altuve single. It was a tough matchup, so this doesn't rate as a disastrous outing for Manaea. It breaks up a string of five straight quality starts
Giants' Suarez pitches six strong innings in no-decision
Andrew Suarez gave up one run in six innings while striking out five in a no decision against the Cubs on Monday. Suarez had issues with control on Monday -- he walked four hitters and threw just 58-of-103 pitches for strikes -- but he was able to limit the damage to just one run by striking out five and allowing just three hits. This makes four starts in a row where the left-handed rookie has allowed one run, and he’s allowed two or less in six straight. That’s seen his ERA drop from 5.08 on June 8 to the present 3.75 he owns. We’ll see Suarez again on Sunday against the Athletics.
