Godley guides D-backs to win

Arizona starter Zack Godley allowed one earned run on five hits over six innings to earn the win in a 2-1 triumph, striking out seven and walking one. Brad Boxberger struck out the side in the ninth for his 23rd save. Nick Ahmed finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help pace the offense. Jon Jay was 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Steven Souza Jr. finished 2-for-4 with a double.

Freeman has multi-hit night

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was 2-for-4 and scored a run in Friday's loss. Nick Markakis also finished 2-for-4. Kurt Suzuki was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Sam Freeman took the loss in relief as he allowed one run on no hits with a walk and a strikeout in one-third of an inning.

Zack Greinke (9-5, 3.39 ERA) gets the start today for Arizona, while Atlanta counters with Sean Newcomb (8-4, 3.44).

Prediction:

This is a good pitching matchup, but Greinke appears to be trending in the right direction and is as crafty with his stuff as they come. If the Braves struggled against Godley, it's hard to see them turning it around versus Greinke. I'm willing to bet on Newcomb continuing to falter after his unbelievable start to the season.
