Nationals stay hot

Washington won its third straight game and seventh out of eight on Friday night when it picked up a 4-0 win over the Phillies. Washington is now 48-42 overall, 22-22 on the road and 43-41 with the over. Patrick Corbin gets the start for Washington this evening. He is 7-5 on the season with a 3.34 ERA.

Stephen Strasburg threw six scoreless innings with six strikeouts on Friday to get his 11th win of the year. The Nats bullpen threw three innings and allowed just one hit. At the plate, Victor Robles drove in two runs to lead Washington while Ryan Zimmerman and Juan Soto also drove in a run.

Phillies starting to skid

Philadelphia has lost four of its last six games following Friday’s loss at home to the Nationals. The Phillies are 47-44 on the season, 27-18 at home and 45-43 with the under. Philly has Aaron Nola getting the start today. He is 8-2 on the season with a 3.74 ERA.

Philadelphia had eight hits on Friday, but couldn’t produce a run, as they stranded nine baserunners in the loss. Maikel Franco had three hits, including the lone double for the Phillies, while Bryce Harper had two singles. Nick Pivetta got the start and took the loss to fall to 4-4 on the year. He gave up three runs over five innings on six hits and two walks.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals have won six of their last seven road games and 16 of their last 21 NL East games.

Philadelphia

The Phillies are just 1-5 in their last six Game 2’s of a series and 1-6 in their last seven home games against a winning team.

Prediction:

Like a lot of Washington pitchers, Corbin is rolling right now. He has thrown seven innings in four straight starts while giving up just three earned runs over his last 28 innings. That includes a start against the Phillies. Nola has been pitching quite well, himself. He has given up just two earned runs over his last 29.2 innings on the mound. However, the Nats have picked him apart in two meetings this year. Nola has given up 11 runs over 9.1 innings to Washington in two starts. I think the Nats have the momentum right now and will continue their upward trend right now.

MLB Prediction: Washington Nationals -105
