Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers, the Rays are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -190 to win. The Tigers are getting a money line of +178 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 7 runs. The public betting for this game currently has 72 percent going on Tampa at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Tigers split at home

The Tigers are coming off a 4-game split at home with the Rangers to remain well below the .500 mark. Detroit is 40-52 on the season and 15-29 on the road. Detroit is putting up 3.98 runs per game this season while allowing 4.59 per contest.

Francisco Liriano is on the mound for the Tigers this evening. He has started 13 games this season and has a 3-5 record with a 4.03 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. Liriano has logged 73.2 innings this year and has 57 strikeouts with 41 walks.

Rays return home

The Rays are coming off a 6-game interleague road trip against the Mets and Marlins where they went 3-3. Tampa is now 45-44 overall with a 23-17 record at home. Tampa is scoring 3.90 runs per game this season while allowing 3.76 per contest.

Chris Archer is getting the start for the Rays today. He is making his 14th start of the year and has a 3-4 record with a 4.24 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Archer has recorded 76 strikeouts and 26 walks over 76.1 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Detroit

The Tigers are just 21-48 in their last 69 road games and 6-13 in their last 19 Monday games. They have also lost Liriano’s last five starts.

Tampa

The Rays have won 11 of their last 12 at home and six of their last seven against a left-handed starter.

Prediction:

Archer isn’t having the best year, but he has had his last four starts go well prior to going on the DL with an ab injury. He had allowed just three runs over his last 23.2 innings. It’s hard to know if Archer will be 100 percent today, but I think he can resume where he was against this lackluster Detroit lineup. Liriano has been trending the wrong way for weeks and I think this leads to another Detroit loss.

The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays -190
