Yankees' German unable to get through five innings vs. Braves
Domingo German was charged with three runs over 4 1/3 innings Tuesday, taking a no-decision in the Yankees’ 8-5 win over the Braves. German entered the top of the fifth inning with a 6-0 lead, but he was unable to complete the frame to qualify for a win after giving up a walk, back-to-back home runs and back-to-back singles. All told, he permitted six hits and three walks on the night. German has posted back-to-back clunkers, which could put his spot in the rotation on thin ice with Masahiro Tanaka (hamstrings) due back soon. The rookie is currently lined up to face the Orioles in Baltimore next.
Blue Jays' Borucki solid in no-decision vs. Tigers
Ryan Borucki was handed a no-decision after allowing two runs over seven innings Monday against the Tigers. Borucki held the Tigers to six hits — all of them singles — while striking out eight and walking none. It was admittedly not the strongest lineup, but it was an impressive performance. He’s now allowed two runs in each of his first two starts in the majors. Borucki doesn’t possess frontline potential, but he has the ability to be solid rotation piece for the Blue Jays moving forward.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are just 1-4 in their last five games following a win.
Toronto
The Blue Jays have dropped four of five versus the rest of the American League East.
Prediction:
Even though German has had his issues his past two starts and the injuries are starting to pile up for the Yankees, I still like them in this spot. First and foremost, they're 5-1 in their last six games versus the Blue Jays. They're also 35-21 this season coming off a win and own the best record in baseball as a road favorite at 20-11. They're also 4-1 in German's last five starts and have won eight of 10 on the road when facing a left-handed starter. Finally, the Blue Jays are just 2-5 in their last seven games versus a right-handed starter and have struggled as home dog this year, losing 13 of 20 overall.
The Pick: New York Yankees -155
