Orioles take opener

The Orioles won the series opener on Friday night by picking up a 4-1 victory. Baltimore is now 26-61 on the season, 15-30 on the road and 44-38 with the over. The O’s have Andrew Cashner taking the mound today. He is 8-3 on the season with a 4.03 ERA.

The Orioles got some strong pitching on Friday night, as Dylan Bundy threw 6.2 innings and allowed just one run on three hits with six strikeouts. He improved to 4-10 on the year with the win. Paul Fry got the save with a perfect ninth inning. Chris Davis had two hits, including a home run, while driving in three runs. Jonathan Villar had the other RBI for the Orioles.

Blue Jays lose second straight

Toronto lost its second straight game on Friday in a 4-1 loss to the Orioles at home. The Blue Jays are now 33-56 overall, 17-29 at home and 45-41 with the over. Toronto has Clayton Richard getting the start today. He is 1-4 on the season with a 6.51 ERA.

The Blue Jays were held to just four hits on Friday, with nobody picking up more than one. Danny Jansen had a triple while Teoscar Hernandez had a double and Brandon Drury drove in the lone run. Aaron Sanchez took the loss to fall to 3-12 on the year. He gave up two runs over five innings, walking four while striking out five.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles have won five of Cashner’s last six starts, but are just 13-40 in their last 53 games following a win.

Toronto

The Blue Jays are just 2-7 in their last nine Saturday games and 1-6 in their last seven division games.

Prediction:

The Orioles got some rare solid pitching on Friday, but could actually get it again today. Cashner has been a pretty steady arm for them and has given up just four earned runs over his last 25 innings. Richard hasn’t been on the same level, allowing at least three runs in five straight starts. He hasn’t been able to get deep into games either. Richard doesn’t strike out many, either, so I see the Baltimore hitters being able to come through with some power shots during the contest.

MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles +130
