According to oddsmakers, the Nationals are the favorite at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -200 to win. The Royals are listed with odds of +170 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 10.5 runs. The public betting for the contest currently has 75 percent going on the Nationals at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Royals riding a losing streak

Kansas City is on a four-game losing streak right now after being swept at home by the Cleveland Indians. KC is 29-59 on the season, 13-31 on the road and 44-39 with the over. Brad Keller is getting the start for the Royals tonight. He is 4-9 on the season with a 4.63 ERA.

The Royals are struggling at the plate and on the mound this season. KC has a 5.10 ERA on the year as a staff with a 1.46 WHIP. At the plate, the Royals average 4.24 runs per game while hitting .245 as a team. Jorge Soler is having a nice season, as he has 17 doubles with 23 home runs and 58 RBI. Alex Gordon is adding 21 doubles, 10 home runs and 53 RBI while Adalberto Mondesi has 48 RBI and has stolen 27 bases.

Nationals rolling

Washington is on a roll right now, winning four straight and eight of their last nine after sweeping the Marlins at home. The Nationals are 45-41 overall, 24-19 at home and 42-38 with the over. Washington has Austin Voth getting the start tonight. He is 0-0 on the season with a 4.35 ERA.

The Nationals are making a slow climb up the rankings when it comes to hitting and pitching. They are middle of the road in both categories right now. On the mound, Washington has a 4.46 team ERA with a 1.30 team WHIP. When it comes to hitting, Washington averages 4.94 runs per game while hitting .252 as a team. Anthony Rendon is leading the team with 21 doubles, 20 home runs and 60 RBI while Juan Sotoa has 15 doubles, 15 home runs and 54 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are just 1-5 in Keller’s last six road starts and 3-10 in their last 13 interleague games against a right-handed starter.

Washington

The Nationals have won five straight series openers and 8-2 in their last 10 home games.

Prediction:

The Nationals have been rolling right now, but have a little of a question on the mound today. Voth has just two starts this year and he has given up five runs in 10.1 innings. However, I think he can settle in just fine against this KC team that doesn’t have a lot of major-league hitters. Keller has been hit-or-miss, allowing six runs at Toronto in his last outing. I think he will struggle again tonight against a hot Washington lineup.

MLB Prediction: Washington Nationals -200
