Astros going with rookie
The Houston Astros are coming off a sweep of the Seattle Mariners at home this weekend. Houston is 53-32 overall, 22-19 on the road and 45-36 with the under. The Astros have rookie Jose Urquidy taking the mound today. He is making his MLB debut.
Houston has been good on the mound and at the plate this season. The Astros are putting up 5.01 runs per game while hitting .267 as a squad. On the mound, Houston has a 3.83 team ERA with a 1.12 WHIP. Alex Bergman has been leading the team with 22 home runs and 52 RBI while Jose Altuve recently returned to the team with 10 home runs and 24 RBI on the year.
Rockies split with Dodgers
The Colorado Rockies have been all over the place in recent weeks and are coming off a four-game split at home with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Colorado is now 44-40 on the season, 24-17 at home and 44-36 with the over. The Rockies have German Marquez on the mound today. He is 8-3 on the season with a 4.29 ERA.
Colorado has been able to mash the ball this year, averaging 5.65 runs per game while hitting .269 as a team. However, the Rockies haven’t been great on the mound. Colorado has a 5.16 team ERA with a 1.44 team WHIP. Nolan Arenado has been leading the team this season with 20 doubles, 20 home runs and 65 RBI. Charlie Blackmon is adding 20 doubles, 20 home runs and 56 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 21-6 in their last 27 Tuesday games and 43-18 in their last 61 against NL West opponents.
Colorado
The Rockies have won four straight interleague games and 14 of their last 19 games at home.
Prediction:
We don’t know much of what we will get from Urquidy, but Colorado has been very good at giving Marquez run support. They have scored at least five runs in nine of his last 10 starts. Marquez hasn’t been great on the mound, and he faces a pretty good Houston lineup, but Colorado is at home and can really mash the ball. I think the Rockies can jump on the rookie and still get to the Houston bullpen if needed. Look for this to be a high-scoring game.
MLB Prediction: Colorado Rockies -120
