Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
J.D. Martinez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's 12-8 loss to the Yankees. Martinez connected for a solo home run off Stephen Tarpley as part of a four-run first inning by the Red Sox. They would hold onto the lead through six innings before their bullpen set about lighting everything on fire in what devolved into a nine-run seventh inning by the Yankees. For the campaign as a whole, Martinez is slashing .298/.374/.549 with 18 home runs and 47 RBI over the course of 295 at-bats. He has gone yard in two of his last three games, with five extra-base hits picked up in that small space.
Toronto Blue Jays Fantasy Spin
Lourdes Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored on Monday against the Royals. Gurriel's run continues. This is the fourth three-hit game in his last 10 appearances, and the 25-year-old has upped his average from .280 to .318 in large part because of it. One of the hits was a double -- the 13th of the year for the right-handed hitter -- and is OPS is up to 1.009. Regression is almost assuredly coming, but there's an awful lot to like about what we've seen from Gurriel in 2019.
