Orioles drop opener

The Baltimore Orioles suffered a 6-3 loss at Tampa on Monday to get this series started. They have lost five of their last seven games. Baltimore is 24-60 overall, 13-29 on the road and 42-37 with the over. Baltimore has Asher Wojciechowski making the start today. He hasn’t pitched in 2019.

The Orioles briefly held a 3-2 lead in Monday’s game before the bullpen handed things over to Tampa. Branden Kline was the main culprit, as he allowed three runs without getting an out. At the plate, both Renato Nunez and Jonathan Villar each had two hits to lead the Orioles.

Rays on a win streak

Tampa Bay is riding a three-game win streak right now following the victory over the Orioles last night. The Rays are 49-36 on the season, 23-19 at home and 44-33 with the under. Tampa has Charlie Morton taking the mound today. He is 8-2 on the year with a 2.43 ERA.

Tampa went with reliever Ryne Stanek to start last night and he pitched two scoreless innings to get things started. Tampa would ultimately use seven pitchers over the course of the game. Adam Kolarek got his third win while Jose Alvarado picked up his seventh save. At the plate, Kevin Kiermaier drove in three runs on two hits while Ji-Man Choi had two hits and two RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Baltimore

The Orioles are 19-41 in their last 60 Tuesday games and 56-137 in their last 193 games following a loss.

Tampa

The Rays have won four of their last five at home and 27 of their last 39 Game 2’s of a series.

Prediction:

Wojciechowski hasn’t seen MLB action since 2017 and he has started 11 games over his career, but none of the numbers are very impressive. Morton has had a few shaky outings as of late, but he faces a Baltimore team that can’t be trusted to hit consistently. Regardless of how many runs he has given up, Morton finds ways to work into the late stages of the game and Tampa will need that tonight. I like the Rays to win comfortably again.

MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays -1.5 (-140)
