San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Buster Posey posted three hits and a walk in the Giants’ lopsided win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Posey reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances. He doubled and singled twice to record his second three-hit effort in his last three games and also drew a walk to load the bases in the seventh. The 32-year-old backstop has started to pick it up after struggling at the plate for the entire first half of the season. He’s hitting .251/.315/.382 with 20 runs scored, three homers and 20 RBI in 219 plate appearances.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Manny Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in the Padres’ extra-innings loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. So much for those early-season struggles. Machado left the yard for the second consecutive contest, swatting a two-run homer off Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas in the opening frame. It was his lone hit in five at-bats in the four-hour marathon contest. The 26-year-old superstar shortstop has now gone deep a staggering 11 times in 25 games this month. He’s hitting .314 (33-for-105) with 24 runs scored, 29 RBI and one stolen base during that span.
MLB Betting Trends
The Giants have lost 11 of Jeff Samardzija’s last 16 road starts and are just 2-7 in his last nine outings.
The Padres have won four out of their last five games overall and five of six at Petco Park.
The under has cashed in seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams and is 4-0 in the last four meetings at Petco Park. The Giants scored double-digit runs on Sunday at home against the Diamondbacks so their offense should be tapped for at least a week. The under is also 5-2-2 in the padres’ last nine home games.
