Angels crushed by A's
Los Angeles dropped a 12-3 decision at home Sunday afternoon against Oakland for its third straight defeat. Shohei Ohtani paced the Angels offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs. Tommy La Stella went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Kole Calhoun ended the contest 1-for-4 with an RBI. Andrew Heaney suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Jose Suarez draws the start tonight as he enters with a 2-1 record, 5.57 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 19 strikeouts over 21 innings.
Rangers fall for second straight day
Texas lost by a count of 6-2 at Tampa Bay Sunday afternoon for its second consecutive loss in the series. Joey Gallo paced the Rangers offensively as he went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Elvis Andrus was 2-for-4 with a run scored. No one else in the Texas lineup recorded a hit or drew a walk. Jesse Chavez picked up the win as he allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Mike Minor gets the start today as he comes in with an 8-4 record, 2.40 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 110 strikeouts over 112 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 5-1 in their last six series openers. Los Angeles is 1-4 in its last five versus the AL West.
Texas
The Rangers are 7-1 in their last eight games versus a left-handed starter. Texas is 18-8 in its last 26 home games.
Prediction:
Suarez doesn't move the needle for me, especially against an offense that has fared well versus lefties lately at least until reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Snell had his way with them yesterday. Look for a nice bounceback effort from Texas' offense coupled with yet another solid outing by Minor. The moneyline is surprisingly low considering the matchup.
