Anthony Rendon helped lead the Nationals offense as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Adam Eaton went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Brian Dozier was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Max Scherzer starts this afternoon for Washington as he enters with a 7-5 record, 2.52 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 156 strikeouts over 114 1/3 innings.
Cabrera sparkplugs Tigers to win
Detroit rallied late Saturday for a 7-5 home victory over Washington to improve to 27-51 overall and 12-28 at home. Miguel Cabrera helped lead the Tigers as he finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Nicholas Castellanos ended the game 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. JaCoby Jones was 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run and an RBI. Victor Alcantara picked up the win in relief as he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits over one inning of work. Jordan Zimmermann draws the start today for Detroit as he comes in with an 0-5 record, 5.95 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 27 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings.
