M's fall in 10 innings again

Seattle fell 6-5 in 10 innings Saturday night at Houston to drop to 37-50 overall and 20-25 on the road. Tim Beckham paced the Mariners offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Domingo Santana went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Daniel Vogelbach was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk. Roenis Elias took the loss as he gave up one earned run on two hits with no strikeouts or walk in one inning of relief. Marco Gonzales gets the start today as he comes in with a 9-6 record, 4.34 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 71 strikeouts over 101 2/3 innings.

Gurriel wins it for second straight day

Yuli Gurriel provided the game-winning hit for the second consecutive day as his RBI double in the bottom of the 10th sent Houston to a 6-5 home win over Seattle. Gurriel finished 1-for-4 with the double, a walk, a run scored and the RBI. Jake Marisnick went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI. George Springer was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Michael Brantley ended the game 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Chris Devenski picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with one strikeout in one inning of work. Gerrit Cole draws the start today for Houston as he comes in with a 7-5 record, 3.42 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 151 strikeouts over 102 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Seattle

The Mariners are 19-40 in their last 59 games overall. Seattle is 4-0 in the last four Gonzales starts.

Houston

The Astros are 5-9 in their last 14 games overall. Houston is 18-4 in the last 22 Cole home starts.

Prediction:

Cole typically pitches his best at home and the Mariners have to be a bit shellshocked after the last two days. I don't expect quite the same fight out of Seattle today and the Astros have hitters who crush lefties, so it might be a long afternoon for Gonzales. Take a risk elsewhere.
