Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Javier Baez went 1-for-4 with a grand slam on Saturday in the Cubs' 6-0 victory over the Reds. With the Cubs ahead 1-0, Baez went the opposite way off of Jared Hughes with the bases load to extend that lead to 5-0 in the eighth inning. The impressive infielder now has an even 20 round-trippers, and the four RBI up his season total to 56. Baez is now hitting .285 with an .873 OPS on the season, and despite his lack of walks/high strikeout total, he continues to put up monster numbers everywhere else.
Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Joey Votto went 2-for-4 in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday. Votto has his third multi-hit game in his last five games, including his four-hit effort on Friday. The first baseman struggled for most of the year, but his strong play as of late has his line up to .271/.365/.421 with eight homers and 21 RBI on the season. Expect all of those numbers to continue to rise over the final half of the season for Votto.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 3-9 in their last 12 road games.
Cincinnati
The Reds have dropped five of their last six games overall.
Prediction:
Despite their issues on the road recently, the Cubs should be a safe bet to cash today for bettors. They’re 38-18 in Lester’s last 56 starts and are 18-5 in his last 23 road outings when facing an opponent with a losing record. They’re also 14-2 in Lester’s last 16 starts versus the Reds and have won six of his last seven outings in Cincinnati.
