Sanchez guides Nats

Washington notched a 3-1 victory Friday night at Detroit to improve to 41-40 overall and 20-21 on the road. Juan Soto helped lead the Nationals offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Howie Kendrick ended the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Adam Eaton was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Anibal Sanchez earned the win as he allowed one earned run on six hits with eight strikeouts and one walk over six innings of work. Fernando Rodney picked up the save as he struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Austin Voth will make his second start of the season today as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks over six innings in a 4-3 home loss versus Atlanta on June 23.

Castellanos homers in defeat

Detroit fell by a score of 3-1 Friday night at home versus Washington to drop to 26-51 overall and 11-28 at home. Nicholas Castellanos led the Tigers offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-3 plus a walk. Jeimer Candelario ended the contest 2-for-4 plus a double. Daniel Norris suffered the loss as he gave up two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk over five innings. Gregory Soto starts today for Detroit as he comes in with an 0-2 record, 8-66 ERA and 2.12 ERA with 11 strikeouts over 13 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals are 5-1 in their last six games versus the AL Central. Washington is 6-2 in its last eight Saturday games.

Detroit

The Tigers are 15-40 in their last 45 home games. Detroit is 1-6 in its last seven Saturday games.

Prediction:

Soto doesn't appear ready for MLB action, while Voth showed he is worth six days ago against a much better offense than what the Tigers offer. Washington will be nicely favored here and for good reason, but I still think it is the only right bet here as Detroit is freefalling right now.
