Nola homers in loss

Seattle lost 2-1 in 10 innings Friday night at Houston to drop to 37-49 overall and 20-24 on the road. Austin Nola accounted for the lone Mariners run as he finished the contest 2-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. J.P. Crawford went 2-for-5, while Dee Gordon was 1-for-3 with a walk. Matt Festa took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout and one walk over 1 1/3 innings. Yusei Kikuchi draws the start tonight for Seattle as he enters with a 4-5 record, 5.11 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 86 1/3 innings.

Gurriel wins it for Astros

Houston prevailed 2-1 in 10 innings at home over Seattle Friday night as Yuli Gurriel hit a walk-off solo home run to win it. It was the only hit for Gurriel in five at-bats. Josh Reddick finished the game 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Alex Bregman had three hits in five at-bats. Will Harris picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with one strikeout over one scoreless frame. Justin Verlander draws the start tonight for the Astros as he comes in with a 10-3 record, 2.67 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 142 strikeouts over 114 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

The Mariners are 9-23 in their last 32 road games. Seattle is 1-10 in its last 11 Saturday games.

The Astros are 42-19 in their last 61 home games. Houston is 6-0 in the last six Verlander Saturday starts.

Even though the Astros aren't quite at full strength offensively with Carlos Correa still sidelined, they have plenty of lefty mashers and should take advantage of hitting against Kikuchi as he seems to be lacking confidence over the last month. And of course, Verlander is having another gem of a season and the M's will almost certainly struggle to put anything together. Go with the Astros today and strongly consider the runline bet.
