Riley, Camargo power Braves
Atlanta posted a 6-2 victory Friday night at New York to improve to 49-34 overall and 25-17 on the road. Austin Riley helped lead the way to the win as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Johan Camargo ended the contest 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Julio Teheran draws the start today for the Braves as he enters with a 5-6 record, 3.94 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 81 strikeouts over 91 1/3 innings.
Mets unable to rally
New York trimmed a three-run deficit to 3-2 Friday night at home against Atlanta, but proceeded to surrender three runs in the top of the eighth inning in what ended as a 6-2 defeat. Jake deGrom suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on six hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking two. Pete Alonso ended the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Tomas Nido finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Robinson Cano was also 2-for-4. Steven Matz will take the mound tonight for the Mets as he comes in with a 5-6 record, 4.85 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 75 strikeouts over 78 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 6-1 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter. Atlanta is 4-1 in its last five games versus the NL East.
New York
The Mets are 0-6 in their last six games overall. New York is 1-4 in the last five Matz starts.
Prediction:
Atlanta has been rolling in June and New York has not. Both pitchers are inconsistent, but it's a little easier to bank on Teheran getting run support. I'll take the team playing the better baseball here.
