Five-run frame propels Nats
Washington scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning Thursday night at Miami to take a 6-4 advantage en route to an 8-5 victory. Kurt Suzuki ended the contest 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored. Matt Adams finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Victor Robles ended the game 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Juan Soto was 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Stephen Strasburg picked up the win as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Anibal Sanchez draws the start tonight for the Nationals as he enters with a 3-6 record, 4.02 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 71 2/3 innings.
Tigers drop seventh straight
Detroit lost by a count of 3-1 Thursday afternoon against Texas to drop to 26-50 overall and 11-27 at home. Harold Castro helped pace the Tigers offense as he went 3-for-4, while Gordon Beckham ended the game 2-for-4 with a double. JaCoby Jones finished 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Spencer Turnbull took the loss as he gave up one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts and one walk over two innings before leaving with a shoulder injury. MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 6-1 in their last seven road games. Washington is 7-20 in its last 27 Friday games.
Detroit
The Tigers are 17-37 in their last 54 interleague games. Detroit is 6-20 in the last 26 Norris home starts.
Prediction:
Detroit is in a freefall as it has been most of the season and I don't think Norris solves its issues tonight. Sanchez has been a bit inconsistent this season, but he's a veteran and has pitched plenty of great games at Comerica Park as a former Tiger. I think he navigates pretty easily through the Detroit offense and sends the Nats to another road win.
