Nats hold off Marlins rally attempt

Washington gave up four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night but held on for a 7-5 victory at Miami. Matt Adams helped pace the Nationals offense as he finished 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Trea Turner went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Anthony Rendon was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Patrick Corbin picked up the win as he surrendered one earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Sean Doolittle picked up the save as he gave up one hit and recorded the last out of the contest. Stephen Strasburg draws the start today as he enters with an 8-4 record, 3.79 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 120 strikeouts over 102 innings of work.

Granderson drives in three in loss

Miami scored four runs in the ninth but fell short in a 7-5 home defeat versus Washington. Zac Gallen suffered the loss as he surrendered three earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over five innings of work. Curtis Granderson went 1-for-2 off the bench with a triple and three RBIs. Harold Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Bryan Holaday ended the contest 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Sandy Alcantara will start tonight for the Marlins as he comes in with a 4-6 record, 3.51 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 64 strikeouts over 89 2/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals are 5-1 in their last six road games. Washington is 39-13 in its last 52 Strasburg road starts.

Miami

The Marlins are 2-10 in their last 12 home games. Miami is 4-9 in the last 13 Alcantara starts.

Prediction:

Miami stinks as we know and it should have a difficult time solving Strasburg just as it did Max Scherzer and Corbin before him. Alcantara is having a decent enough season, but still allows too many baserunners and is bound to run into trouble against a solid Nats offense. I don't think Alcantara gets enough support from his offense tonight to make up for his own mistakes plus the Marlins' bullpen's.
